Programme: Tafteesh
Katakhali Empowerment and Youth Association
Tafteesh is a coalition of survivors of human trafficking, lawyers, social workers, psychologists, researchers, and human rights activists who have come together to empower trafficked survivors to access justice & support efforts to combat human trafficking. The purpose of this kind of initiative is to identify the gap in System responses in the way of ensuring the easy accessibility by the survivors of their rights. As part of TAFTEESH, KEYA has been working with several strategies and axes. Through this consortium it is being tried to develop eco system to ensure easy access in the judicial system by the survivors and helping them to rehabilitate in the mainstream of the society
- Procedural correction is one of the important activities which pave the way of ensuring justice for trafficked victim survivors through the adding of trafficking related sections IPC 370. ITPA, POCSO so that chances of punishment would be increased. This process is helping to bring accountability among the Police administration and existing system to ensure survivor legal rights.
- Getting compensation is not the demand of survivors, it’s the responsibility of the government to compensate for the losses of survivors.
- Inter-State Case Management is another important areas of concern. A large number of survivors were rescued from the different states such as Maharashtra, Goa, Delhi, UP and Gujarat. In this process, several arrangements required like obtaining regular updates regarding case progress at destination areas, arrangement of Video Conferencing to participate in the legal process of destination areas.
- Engagement of AHTUs and State Legal Aid Services for appropriate investigation and case procedure leading towards ensuring justice for the victims.
- Community based rehabilitation is a model through which trafficked survivors rehabilitate in the mainstream of Community by getting easier access to social benefits rather than keeping themselves in a locked Shelter Home.
- Without visibility it would not be possible to add mass people in movement activities. KEYA has been working relentlessly to ensure its presence on social media and mainstream media.
